    Hello,

I’m trying to find a way to dynamically generate a video based on images in a folder. Each image would be animated based on size in a specified number of frames. There will also be transitions between the images.
This whole comp should be generated and rendered server-side.

First of all, is this at all possible?

I would really appreciate if someone could give me some tips or point me in the right direction with this matter.

    Cheers,
    Simen

Yeah Dave, I’ve been looking for that one too! Let me know if you find it.

Simen, what you ask is possible in a tightly scripted fashion. You could write a script that generates a Compostion with most of what you seek. Start by checking out Dan Ebberts’ excellent site motionscript.com.

I’m not sure whether or how After Effects handles file I/O so you may need to import the files first, but I’ll leave that discussion to the real experts.

he he, ok fine, my request may be a bit overwhelming, but I was merely seeking council with the people that know more about these things than I do, to see if pursuing this further is at all worth it.

But sure Dave, I’ll let you know when I have the script all worked out 😉

    cheers,
    Simen

Thanks for the feedback, I’ll make sure to check out Dan Ebberts’ site.

Re. the I/O, I was hoping it would be possible for AE to communicate/receive its information through an XML document.
But, I will dive deeper into the whole matter and hopefully come up with something cool.

    Have a good one,

    cheers,
    Simen

    Hi Simen,

Were you able to find an answer to this eventually?
I am interested in dynamically creating a short video, server-side, as well.
It should be able to take various elements I have passed into it as variables and render the final output into a video file.
I’m a web developer and a programmer, so I am familiar with scripting things, I’m just relatively new to the video realm.

Did you ever find out how you could do this? Or even a step in the right direction of what software could do this would be great.

Thanks for any input the experts can provide,
    George
