  Convert 16:9 to 4:3

  I need help…I’m creating some motion graphics in a widescreen 16:9 format. Once I’m done w/ the video I have to squeeze this video to 4:3 (anamorphic?) to fit on a beta sp. The client will take this beta and stretch the video back out to 16:9 aspect ratio to display on their monitor. My question is how do I convert 16:9 to 4:3??? How should I setup my composition in AE. Would FCP work better for this?

  You don’t need After Effects for this. (Probably.)

  If you’re working with anamorphic 16:9 then you are using the same number of pixels as you are when working with 4:3. You’re just using a different “Pixel Aspect Ratio”. Check out your manuals for more info or a little Wikipedia might get you in the right area.

  Bottom line: Master your project out of Final Cut Pro, with anamorphic 16:9 sequence settings appropriate for your media. It will end up fine on the tape.

  What should my composition settings be set to AE? Right now they are 1280×720 with a pixel ratio set to SQUARE PIXELS. Do I need to change the pixel aspect ratio to Anamorphic 2:1? Also, in FCP how do I change the this to 4:3. I have an idea but I’m not confident it is the right process? Can you help???
