  • HELP, tried to improperly remove AECS3, and now can’t re-install

Ok, so before you respond to this, just keep in mind that: Yes, I know I’m an idiot.

Ok, so I had a trial version of AFTER EFFECTS CS3 on my computer. Anyways, a few months ago after the 30 day trail period was up, i tried to remove it. I was unaware of any uninstaller that came with it, I just proceeded to remove the program with an application called APPZAPPER (huge mistake). Anyways, now it’s a while later, and I’m ready to buy the full version of AFTER EFFECTS. I decided to download it from the ADOBE website and then register it. Well, I downloaded it, but now I can’t install it because it says that it can’t install because it conflicts with “ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS CS3”. So i did some research on how to properly remove it, and I was told that there was an uninstall app, which unfortunately, I already trashed. So I’m assuming there are tons of random files hidden on my computer that makes it think that AFTER EFFECTS is still on it. Does anyone know how i can properly delete everything so that I can reinstall it???? I’ve been trying all afternoon to find whatever I can to delete, but I’m not having any luck. PLEASE PLEASE, I’m desperate!!

You might contact adobe to get the needed information…or, wait for a post from someone who might have done what you have done.

Another suggestion… is you might try registry scrub to see if that helps… or, it could make you situation worse.

hey guys, thanks for the responses.

sorry i didn’t specify before, but I am working on a mac. And I did manage to find a solution. I had to run this program called ADOBE CS3CLEAN SCRIPT. It was a real pain because they really made you fear the wrath of losing everything, so i had to back up my harddrive first. But after doing that, I ran the program, and magically all was well. I’m pretty bitter at adobe for making their installers they way they do. But oh well. IF anyone else runs into the same problem, just remember to use CS3CLEAN SCRIPT. They have mac and windows version.

    cheers!
