  • Shift Key for Scaling Objects

Posted by Nate Tull on March 12, 2008 at 2:23 am

When I scale an object and want to constrain it without it losing its shape I cant unless I use the Scale on the layer, I’d like to be able to hold shift, grab the corner and scale it but when I hold down shift I cant grab a corner and scale . what do I have to set to get it to work, I just recently figured out how to get my F9 key to make easy ease. any help would be huge! Thanks.

[Nate Tull] “but when I hold down shift I cant grab a corner and scale”

Grab the corner first and drag, then hold shift to constrain the proportions. You can hold or let go of shift at any time while dragging to switch between proportional scaling and free scaling.

Also if you are having trouble with your keyboard shortcuts the AE help files have good documentation of them, there’s too many to remember..

    Darby Edelen,
the thing is that when i enter the ”shift” key, the objects grow proportionally but the main object loses it’s normal shape, which means that they grow from the middle. Thank you for advance.
