  • Logo on a tractor as part of a shoot. Is this a problem?

    Hi,

I’m filming a comical advert which involves a tractor, plus the make/model of the tractor. They may not want to be affiliated with the advert, so I was going to blur out the brand and presumably the logo (without text).

I posted a while back here: https://mobi.creativecow.net/thread/12/857116 which was very helpful, but I think this is a slightly different case.

Is it enough to just blur out the logo – I’m sure the company would say you’d still recognise the tractor!

I’m not a lawyer but generally speaking- blurring out product logos is more than sufficient for this sort of thing. That the product is still recognizable to its maker is not really an issue.

I agree with Noah. The standard isn’t if the manufacturer can recognize their product it would be more of an issue if the general public would recognize it, especially problematic if you are portraying their product in a bad way, ie.- making it the butt of your joke.

BUT… I don’t know if this is the case with UK law and (say it out loud with me) I AM NOT A LAWYER.
