flip powerpoint for teleprompter
I have a home made teleprompter.
Now my company loves…and I mean loves…powerpoint.
Problem is when you import powerpoints into the teleprompter they are reversed. After much work I’ve found a solution.1. Open your powerpoint presentation
2. Hit “save as” and save the presentation as jpegs. It will prompt you “this one slide or entire presentation?” You want the entire presentation.
3. It will tell you it has save each and every slide in new file folder and where that file folder is.
4. Open your original presentation and chose “import” and “photo album”. Select the album of all of the jpegs. It will re-import the jpegs directly on top of the existing powerpoint, only now instead of slides you have jpegs.
5. Select the jpeg on a slide
6. Select ‘format’ and then ‘arrange’and then ‘flip horizontal’. The little image looks like two pyramids with an arrow floating over the top of them.
7. Go through each image and do these steps and magically you’ve reversed or mirror-imaged your powerpoint.Good luck

Excellent tip! I was exporting those files to photoshop and using a batch process on them, but this is faster. Thanks!

I was too and it took forever. this does work faster, but I’m still looking for a piece of tech that will simply ‘mirror’ whatever’s on the screen.

Well, me too, as we just built a 42-inch plasma-based, 2-camera teleprompter (2 cams close together inside, one wide, one tight, for live-switched recordings of people doing ppt lectures) and what we got (not tested yet) is this:
This will flip the horizontal for you; the vertical, you take care of by putting the plasma or LCD screen in “upside-down” in the prompter head.

Yes, 42 inches. I can prompt Stevie Wonder with this bad boy. We call it “The Big Kahuna”, and it makes the most illegible powerpoint slide immense and gives the lecturer perfect eye contact *thru* his material, into the lens, even at some distance. By doing the Kahuna plus a live switch, I turned a 2- hour, 3-man job into a 1-hour, 1 man job and shaved about four hours edit cleanup time, per lecture. Some wonderful state craftsmen, sidelined by winter lulls, built it to my sketch-up drawn specs from a discarded “burned” plasma screen, scrap wood and spare CAD workstation parts from the surplus warehouse. Saving thousands of tax dollars. Maybe I’ll post a picture of it some other time.

The Hall Research SC-VGA-2 VGA scan converter came in today, I hooked it up and it works perfectly, exactly what you need for this application of feeding a mirrored teleprompter from an LCD or plasma screen. Several companies re-sell the Hall Research unit with their own logo on it and a mark-up; compare pictures with the one on th Markertek site and you’ll see if it is the same unit.
