  • Work-for-hire contract or release for cameraman on film

    Hi

I shot a short film and a friend shot a couple shots that were used.

Does anyone have or know where I can get a standard contract or lease for him to sign?

I’ve been on the internet but things seem awfully long and complicated when seems to me I basically need something that says I own whatever he shot (it was on my camera and I have the footage) and he has received compensation.

And if it works for the cameraman why wouldn’t it work, with maybe some slight adjustment, on whoever else might be used in the future.

    best,

    Hi Roy,
I’m not a lawyer, but my understanding is any contracts or releases must be written and agreed upon prior to your shoot.

    Thanks for your reply.

I would think there’s no ‘must’ as to signing prior or post.
