This is what a 13 year old girl said in front of the camera when she was asked if she wanted a sweater. It was chilly. Her reply was that she needed to be beautiful and “beauty is pain”. The sweater would hide her beauty. Do I leave that in the final DVD? Would it horrify her parents or is that where she gets the attitude? My gut tells me to edit it out but the statement might make her mother proud, for all I know. What would you do?

Pageant stuff? It is true, after all: ever try to wear high heels? Look up a Steve Martin bit called “The Cruel Shoes”.

Women, and to a lesser extent, men, go thru a lot of silly pain to achieve a “look”. I would say leave it in, but next time you geta statement like, that, you should try to get the subject to expand on it and explain it in more depth. Seems like it could evolve into a major plot point or character revelation.

Depends on the video, of course. You could always just ask her daddy.

I’m with Grinner … show it to Daddy.
