  Project advice/time warp effects?

  I’m planning on using alot of time effects for my next project, similar to Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet (if ya remember the movie). People will be running around in fast motion and slowed down to emphasize certain action scenes.

  I’ve never done a project like this so I’m a little nervous. I’m wondering if I should buy a plugin for this effect or just use AE’s timewarp or time remap?

  Any thoughts?

  Download the trial for Twixtor, shoot some representative footage, try it out with the other options you mentioned, then compare results.

  Note: time remapping doesn’t create intermediate frames. So if you slow down with it, frames will hold. If you shot at 30fps and slow down 6X, you’ll see a stuttery 5 frames in each second of running time, since you didn’t shoot enough frames (180fps) to fill the time. However, Twixtor is one way of generating those intermediate frames.

  You have to shoot and test every scenario you can think of before choosing a method, and before doing any shooting with the real talent and crew.

  okay cool. I was trying to remember the name of that plugin! I’ll try it out. Luckily, I won’t be slowing it down and more than the speed I’m shooting at. I’ll be shooting at 60 fps. So, essentially, I’ll be speeding up the majority of the project.
