search field in Effect browser tab
OK, this may be very basic. But i can’t figure out for the life of me how to search for an effect in FCP7.
So I trashed my preferences and now i have to rebuild my effect FAVORITES list.
So for instance, I use the “Threshold” effect alot but I can never remember in which subfolder it’s located in.
If anybody knows how to search for a particular effect in FCP7, please let me know. thx

To clarify on my previous post, from my research into this, there is supposed to be an Effect tab search field. But I don’t see a search field anywhere.

just hit Command F.
you lost your favourites when your trashed your prefs.
trashing prefs is OK for weird behaviour, but your previous problem was not that weird!It can fix those ting, but it will re-set FCP to default, losing you your Favorites, Keyboard layout, etc, etc.
there’s way of saving and backing up your prefs
you can do it manually, as shown in this old KenStone page:

or you can get a preference manager
