  • Final Cut Pro 7 preference files missing, causing crash on launch

Posted by Aj Briggs on June 14, 2016 at 5:04 pm

    System Info:

    iMac 2008
    OS X 10.5.8
    Final Cut Studio 3
    Logic Studio 3

I’ve read about preference files missing before, and I know they are supposed to be in ~/Library/Preferences/
as com.apple.finalcutpro7.plist or something but they are not there, and I’m sure that’s causing the crash:

    6/14/16 1:03:04 PM com.apple.launchd[96] (0x109480.Locum[155]) Exited: Terminated
    6/14/16 1:03:41 PM com.apple.launchd[96] ([0x0-0x1d01d].com.apple.FinalCutPro[184]) Exited abnormally: Segmentation fault

What is causing these preference files to disappear? Logic Studio?

    Thanks for your help!

preference files not being there should not be a problem.
what normally happens is that they get re-created as FCP starts up.

do you have a very small, simple project file you can open FCP with?

Tried opening a small project, still crashes on the setup screen. Same error message.
