  Corrupted media files when shared on NAS between edit suites

  Apologies if this has come around already.
  We share media, occasionally, between edits( FCP7) on NAS drives. When opening a copy of the project it appears that some of the DVCPro files went offline.
  Trying to relink – the relink tool points at the right file but when trying to relink it says some of the information has changed or the duration don’t match.
  It appears to have changed the .mov headers(metadata) too audio file even though it was originally a video and audio file.

  Is it possible that trying to look at the same file from two different edit suites it can corrupt the file?

  is it sound files that are showing the problem?
  i can get a reconnect warning about “start/stop times” on on audio files if their sample rate is different to the sequence’s

  The sample rates are the same, I have since discovered that some of the material that has been logged and transferred had the same camera reel numbers, which I strongly suspect was the culprit.

  I guess the question still for me is is it possible to corrupt DVCPro .mov media by having two edit suites looking at it.

  not in my experience.

  my experience with DVCProHD is rather old:
  back in 2006 i worked on a large project,
  tens of thousands of clips, shared across 4-7 workstations.
  no problems
