  MULTICAM SHOOT – Getting Syncing Right

  Hi all. I certainly am a newbie and scoured the web to no avail.

  I am shooting some live acousting guitar/vocals videos whilst recording the audio through pro tools in my small studio room. I have no idea where to start in syncing the cameras. 2 x Canon 700d.

  I’d love to have two separate static camera angles and need to be able to control the whole operation without an assistant.

  1. Should I hit record manually on two separate cameras and rely on the camera audio, so FCP can automatically sync the cameras? (Manually import video to FCP later) or

  2. Is there a jam-syncing hardware device that I can use to do this? So I can just hit record in FCP or a remove control or something? (Record live, straight into FCP?)

  I can’t even get past this first learning hurdle :O Sorry guys…

  How would you guys do it?

  One simple way is to use a manual clapper, either clap sticks or just your hands, or if there is a physical mixer in the chain, they usually have a beep tone generator button to lay down three beeps.
