  View actual clip audio levels in timeline FCP 7

  Hi there creative cow lovelies,
  I have a question which is killing me trying to solve, because like it seems like it should be obvious but I can’t figure it out. I’m about to embark on a sound mix in fcp – is there any way to see the levels of the clips in the timeline in numerical form somewhere? like if i put the playhead on a particular place in the clip, is there some way I can see what the audio level is set at, numerically?

  If you don’t see the vertical audio meters, hit Opt-4 to reveal them. In the timeline, if you have Clip Overlays (Opt-W) on you will see a line in each clip representing the gain setting applied. If you click on that line and slightly move the mouse up or down you will see the gain level (odb, -3db, etc.) However, only the audio meters will show you the actual level. One nice feature is you can see level indications as you scrub through a clip. It’s a nice way to identify hits in the audio that might clip.
