  • Final Cut codec for quicktime?

Hi everyone, help with this would be much appreciated !

Basically i gave a capture scratch file to someone on a hard drive as they just wanted the raw footage from an event, however they dont have final cut and have informed me they are unable to view the files. Apparently they can hear the audio but have no image, just a black screen.
I know Final cut quicktime files are different from the regular ones etc however i was wondering if there is a codec or another fix so that this person can view the files on their MAC without FCP ?

Many thanks in advance for any help!

I guess that they need the ProApps codecs, which can be downloaded here

Depends. What is the codec of the footage you gave them?

I have a new Mac Pro with no Final Cut installed… yet. But I would like to be able to view the videos produced by Final Cut Studio 2 in my old Dual G5 – on the new Mac Pro. They play in Quick Time Player version 10 x, but have a black screen when played in QuickTime Pro – which is where I need to play them. Drop them onto MPEG Streamclip and I also get a black screen.

At one point a page opened taking me to Apple’s component page, saying I need a plug-in. But I’m not sure which one – In addition to CC, the page shows DivX, Xvid and ZyC.

Any thoughts are helpful. I’m running 10.7.3 on the Mac Pro at present. Thanks!
