  • FCP Adding Numbers to Exported Files

    Using version 7.0.3

For the last few weeks, when I export out of FCP, the file name will change.

For example, if my sequence is named 5555 – Test File Sequence, FCP will export a file called 5555 – Test File #2832.mov

The numbers I’ve used here are random, but FCP always adds a different series of four numbers after a hash tag. Not sure why. Any ideas?

I have noticed this sometimes happens if I use non standard characters like apostrophes or quotation marks in the file title.

Despite the random numbers the file created always seems to be OK

Yeah, the files all work fine. I make 99% of my files with a number prefix and a dash, so maybe it’s the dash. I’ll try exporting with a dash and see what happens.

That’s it. The dash throws it off. That’s annoying.

Yes its an annoying bug but luckily you can either stick to standard charcters or rename after. Some characters seem OK, but life is too short to try every combination and see exactly which ones upset it.
