On Avid, In the timeline I can lasso a clip and it becomes movable, if my “yellow arrow” is selected when I move that clip, The other clips ripple so that it drops in without overwriting . How do I do this in FCP?

Grab the clip, then hold down the OPTION key when you move and place it.

Great , thanks, Now I see ,..That it doesn’t delete the old clip, it copies a new version & places it. right?

It doesn’t copy…it acts just like the Yellow arrow. It will swap places with a clip, or move a series of clips down the timeline to make room.
