  • export settings in FCP for a mp4 extension

I’m having issues submitting a preview video in mp4 format. Preview videos must have certain settings to be played in a Playstation 3. I’m using FCP 7.0. I am exporting using quicktime conversion, then choosing quicktime Movie format. In the options menu, I am choosing MPEG-4 Video as my compression settings. Frame rate 24, and 2800 kbits/sec. Size is 720/480 Letterbox, and stereo audio.

This exports my video as a .mov, but I need a mp4 extension. I cannot change my extension using the quicktime movie format to mp4. I tried using compressor to change my extension, which gave me the mp4 extension, but it was not playable in a playstation and was rejected. My question is, how can I get FCP to export a mp4 file with a quicktime encode?

    Thank you for you help.

These are the required specs given to me by playstation:

    Quicktime or Begas MSBC Encode
    Image Side: 720×480
    Data rate 1000-3000 kbits/sec
Frame Rate – 30fps or less

Try bringing your file into MPEG Streamclip, then doing save as and selecting MP4 in the dropdown. See if that works.
