I tried to follow all the advice I had received plus reinstalled FCP
but nothing has solved the audio problems
(The sound Arbitrarily appeared and disappeared )
I have no idea how to continue from here

hoping that perhaps somebody else will have a creative idea

    Thanks

    1) Go to View>>Video Playback and tell me what’s selected there.

    2) Next, check View>>External Video and tell me if All Frames is selected.

    3) Finally, check View>>Audio Playback and tell me what’s checked there.

    kind AIFF-C audio
    size 8 MB on disk
    duration 00:41
    Audio channels: 2
    Total bit rate: 1,536,000
