  AVCHD conversion with Voltaic and Log and Transfer

  Today I was experimenting converting AVCHD files with both Shedworx Voltaic and FCP Log and Transfer from the SD card. Can someone tell me why the Voltaic movie files are dramitically larger and take dramatically longer to convert than the Log and transfer method? Is What difference is there in quality, etc.? This is my first post here so forgive me if I have posted in the wrong area. Thanks

  It depends on what the files are converted to. Why would you want to use Voltaic?

  Hi Tom,

  Thanks for your reply. Maybe I should have prefaced my question with the fact that I this is the first time I have worked with AVCHD files, I’m very new to this. I had no knowledge of a preferred workflow for these files in FCP. In both Voltaic and L&G the conversion files were QT ProRes 422, but there was a hugh difference in the time it took to convert and the size of the converted file. As to why I used VoltaicHD, I was at a point where I was simply stumped on how to convert them.
