  Quicktime / FCP export to 16:9

  Hello,

  I have been searching through these forums trying to find the answer to my problems (and failing). It is such a basic issue which I have (after four years of editing video) never figured out.

  Exporting HD 1440×1080 to Quicktime, and ending up with a 16:9 picture.

  I understand that this frame size is anamorphic, but every time I export it ends up 4×3.

  SEQUENCE SETTINGS:

  Frame Size: 1440×1080
  Pixels: HD 1440×1080
  Field Dominance: None
  Compressor: Apple Pro Res 422 HQ
  Anamorphic is ticked

  EXPORT SETTINGS:

  Apple Pro Res 422(HQ)
  Quicktime Mov
  1920×1080 (preserve aspect ratio is checked)

  What am I doing wrong?!

  Nothing. It’s anamorphic as you said. It’s for the display application to correctly display it. The question is really why you’re exporting and where you’re trying to get to. If the problem is in the QT player go to movie properties and set the Presentation aperture to Clean.
