Howdy All,
I’m a newb to this forum (1st post actually) so if I have posted my question in the wrong area my apologies, I’ll be happy to yank and repost, just let me know where.
Here’s my issue:
I have a shoot coming up and we will be using 4 different cameras (I don’t like it either but there’s no changing it):
– Sony Z1U’s
– Sony EX1’s
– JVC GYHM 700’s
– Panasonic P2 (unknown model number as of yet)This footage needs to be streamlined into a single project in FCP 7. My question is, what are the best settings to avoid hiccups?
My immediate thoughts were to set a sequence at 1920 x 1080 HD and let FCP upconvert the HDV material. I’d also like to think that FCP could handle the different codecs as well, but I’m concerned about quality loss.

Probably a 1920×1080 ProRes sequence will minimize your pain/performance at the common frame rate. Please don’t have four different frame rates.
Standard ProRes422 is likely sufficient to avoid gobs of transcoding prior to your edit.

Yes, For Gods Sake shoot all the same Frame rate and Field/frame mode.
