  Importing: visual problems

  Hello
  ive got final cut express version 3.5 i was given footage that was recorded using an EX1 sony xdcam when i imported the quick time file using quicktime compreser i could only hear the sound but could not see the images. I was advised to get final cut pro 7 because it has the compressor i needed to help me see the images.when I tried to install it i didnt have enough ram availabe 128mb of ram was needed and as i have a 10.5 0X Mac compter it did not have enough ram to install final cut pro 7 Does anyone know any other way to import my footage onto my computer. Ive also got final cut 5 available if that helps

  Hi Anette,
  FCE do not supports XDCAM footage.
  You need to addd this:

  Thank you for replying to me.I haven’t got final cut express 4.0,a friend gave me final cut pro 5, would the software that you mentioned work with final cut pro 5.

  You need FC 6.0.2 to work with XDCAM files.
  Is possible that you can use FC 5 together with one of those Calibrated plugins:

  https://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QXD.asp
  Search “Calibrated” on the FCP forum, sure the info is there.
