File sizes and external harddrives…
Morning…
For a test, we had to export a full sequence, (just about 9GB)…anyway, to transfer the file, we need to put it onto a hard drive to take to the post unit, however, it wont let me.
The hard drive is MSDOS Fat as I needed both Microsoft and Apple computers to read it…is this why? Does it need to be MAC formatted only??
I can transfer files seemingly under 4GB but not over. Is this something to do with protection laws etc?
Advice most welcome.

It’s because the Fat 32 formatting cannot address bigger files than 4Gb. What you should do is get NTFS-3G on your mac ( https://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/ntfs3g.html ) and reformat the external drive to NTFS, then you won’t have the problem.

Yes, basically it’s a free utility that allows Macs to use MS Windows disks.
(I know of a utility that you can get to allow MS Windows to work with Mac disks but it’s not free.)
