I am trying to position a logo over a white background on my timeline, but when importing, the background of the photoshop logo is a black box.. the jpeg version is white.
Do I need photoshop on my mac to make this work?

How big is the logo? Does the JPEG fill the frame? The back is probably transparency.

    All the best,

    Tom

Save the jpeg as .png .tif, .tga (targa) or .psd. Those formats will preserve layers and alpha channels. Jpeg alone does not.

Or you can change your blending mode for the jpeg you have and effectively luminance-key it out.

Or use an actual luma key on it, from your video effects menu.
