Font Won’t Change When Using The Text Generator In FCP 7
I’ve had this happen to me a couple of times now and was wondering if anybody knew the reason why? When I use the text generator in FCP 7 and change the font it seems to revert back to the sample text font when I drop it on the timeline. When I look at it in the viewer window the text HAS changed to the font I’ve selected, it’s just when the clip is added to the timeline that it goes back to default. It’s not a major problem but I would like to know why just for peace of mind.

First drag it to the timeline
Then double click and edit font in viewer.Does that work?

Perfect, think I was being stupid and it had changed the font it just looked a little to close to the default font. Thanks though.

It’s because you’re changing the generator, not the ‘copy’ you put on the timeline.
The order should be: open generator, put on timeline, open FROM Timeline and now modify. If you do that order, 100% of the time it works.Many people, open the generator, put it on the timeline – and NOTHING works, because they’re modifying the RAW generator, not the one in the timeline.
It’s a very common user confusion.
