  Edit trim window FCP6.0.5

  I’ve not used the edit trim window in FCP much before.

  When it’s open the cursor changes from roll to Lripple to Rripple when moved over the Lclip and Rclip windows. It doesn’t do anything though when dragged. Is this correct? I was expection the edit position to change when dragged.

  You could drag the in or out points in the window, but the trim window is not really designed for dragging. The timeline is. You can use bracket keys to ripple or roll an edit, or comma and period. You can use JKL to ripple or roll dynamically. The trim edit window is a complex tool, too much to explain in a forum message. I really suggest you read the section in the manual or some other instruction tool on using this window.

  Thanks for the info Tom, I’m don’t use FCP a great deal and I was expecting the roll/ripple to work in the viewer windows as it does in Edius. I wonder what the point is then of the cursor changing?
