    Hello everyone!

I was hoping that someone could give me some advice – I recently graduated film school and I’m trying to put together my first edit demo reel. (I figured that more people might see my question here than in the Demo forum. When I finish this reel, I plan to post it there to get feedback!)

I’ve decided to start the reel with a 30 second montage – shots from things that I’ve worked on, just to get the reel started. After that, I’ve put three 1 1/2 minute scenes from short films that I’ve edited.

Questions – is that enough? Should I be putting more scenes? I don’t want to make this reel terribly long – right now it’s sitting at 5 1/2 minutes.

My 30-second montage has shots from films that I’ve worked on that I did not include scenes from. Is that okay? Would that bother you, to see shots and then not see the film that they come from?

My title card says “Demo Reel” with my name on it, and at the end I have my email address and the year. Should I have more on either one of those credit spots?

I’m really sorry to bother you guys, but I really want to make this demo reel look as professional as possible! I want to look like I know what I’m doing. 🙂

Any advice or answers to my questions is more than welcome! Thank you in advance!

I’ve occasionally offered the advice of don’t go over 5 minutes because no one’s going to watch that long. Admittedly, I’ve only ever made them for other people and never had one myself as I’ve either not had the time or I haven’t kept suitable clips…
