Working with 4:3 footage
Been dealing with 16:9 for so long I know I’m forgetting something very basic here when changing up the settings for a project, and I can’t help my co-worker with his technical dilemma.
He had somebody hand him some footage to create a simple 4:3 video for a meeting.
Here’s the skinny:
Importing 4:3 SD video into FCP7
Sequence settings DVNTSC 48 khz
The footage was squeezed in the viewer window and the canvas window.
It had the black bars to the side.
When exported , the same settings were used DVNTSE 48 khz
But the end product was even more squished to the side than it was in the project.
And the canvas and viewer windows are both set to a 16:9 view.
We trashed the User Settings, and FCP Plist , opened up a brand new project with the same settings above.
Then copied the time line out of the older project and pasted it in the new project hoping the video would go back to it’s 4:3 setting.
But it was the same results.
Thanks for any reminders
