  • Resample ProRes audio but pass through video?

Posted by Matthew Ross on November 20, 2010 at 5:54 pm

I’ve got a bunch of ProRes files that were captured with 24bit audio, but for a project I’m collaborating on, I have to convert these to have 16bit audio in order for them to work on another guy’s (Windows) system. Any way to batch convert just the audio from 24 to 16bit but leave the video track untouched? And I need to do this to the ProRes files themselves rather than just spit out separate new audio tracks, because the problem is this guy’s system won’t read the ProRes files at all unless they have 16bit audio; he can’t even see picture when they have 24bit for some reason. Is Compressor smart about video recompression where it will just pass through video that isn’t getting changed?

    Thanks!

Since it would be best to batch the files, use Compressor.

Match to the ProRes settings to what you have, then change the PCM audio to 16 bit. Render.
