    Hello all,

Running into a situation where a timecode generator is getting sync’d to atomic time pumping out 30fps to 3 dvcam decks.

In our situation we have at least two separate stations timestamping or recording their information outside of the timecode generator.

The problem is that after a few hours, the 30fps generator has deviated from atomic time by at least a handful of seconds.

I know the TC generator has at least 4 options of what type of tc to pump out, but this is getting over my head.

Is there a way to set the TC generator so that it stays in sync with atomic time?

    Thanks,

    t

this will explain why you set to drop frame of you want to keep accurate time.
i got bagged by this issue lots of times back in the 70’s

    Jerry,

thanks much for the response, i’m going to read that link from start to finish first thing in the morning.

a quick question in case you are any other members have a comment:

are the 3 dvcam decks likely to be recording at 29.97 fps, while the tc generator is giving it 30 fps and this is what ultimately leads to the drift from atomic time?

    thanks again,

    t
