I have FCP installed on two different computers. On one when I delete a clip from the timeline it leaves an empty spot where the clip was. On the other computer it snaps all the clips in back to fill in the spot where the deleted clip was. Where is this setting and how do I turn it on and off as needed?

[Mitch Hardison] ” On one when I delete a clip from the timeline it leaves an empty spot where the clip was.”
This is the default behave when you hit “delete”.
To get that all the stuff behind moves to fill he gap (Ripple delete), you must click Shift-Delete.
The computer that does this just hitting “Delete” has the Keyboard customized.

There are two delete keys on many keyboards. The large delete (next to =) does a lift edit, leaves a hole in the timeline. The forward delete key, near the home key, does a ripple delete, removes the clips and closes the timeline.

    All the best,

    Thanks for this info Tom.
I had no idea; never use that key.
