    Hello,

i am a newbie from istanbul and desperately need help please.

i have one to one dv tapes of my one light telecine. i captured them to my fcp 5. however it didnt let me have a footage with timecodes. i used non-controlable device option while i was capturing.

currently i finished rough edit and get an EDL.

do you think i can get same clips while they re making color?

    -i dont think so.-

    thanks in andvance.

[Omer Ozcan] “however it didnt let me have a footage with timecodes. i used non-controlable device option while i was capturing.”

IT didn’t? No, YOU didn’t. Capturing with UNCONTROLLED DEVICE was a choice you made when capturing. That captures without timecode.

Without timecode you have no way to match back to the original source. That is why timecode is very important. Does your footage have window burn code from the original at least? If you have that, you can manually create an EDL.

You know what? If you have visible code, why not use the MODIFY option in FCP to change the existing code to match what you have. Open a clip into the Viewer, park the playhead on a frame, then go to the MODIFY menu and choose TIMECODE. Do that and it should change the original TC on the footage, and that should reflect in the timeline. Do this for ALL your footage.
