Compression failed
I’m trying to export a movie, 1hr. 20mins from Final Cut 6.0 . The sequence is DVCPRO HD 720 60p. First I tried export using compressor and about 4hrs in I got the compression failed error. Then I exported the sequence as a self contained Quicktime movie and then imported it into Compressor and it would not compress, I got the compression failed message. I’m trying to make a standard DVD, 90mins. I also tried exporting it as a reference movie and that didn’t work. I went back to the timeline and tried exporting it as separate sequences and now I get a General Error in Final Cut, that won’t let me even export it as a Quicktime movie. Even when I go to Sequence, Render All, I get the General Error message. Does anyone have any suggestions. I have made many DVD’s using export, compressor in this same format and I’ve never had any problems. HELP!!!

First off – trash FCP prefs.
Try again.Make sure you do not have corrupt material in ur timeline.
Are you Fully rendered?
Do you have enough hard drive space?
Export a ref clip from ur sequence.
Drop that onto QT player – does it play fine there? If so,
Drop that into Compressor.Chris Tompkins

These tools may help: FCS Maintenance Pack which includes Corrupt Clip Finder. It sounds like that might be your problem. Also, Compressor Repair.
