Final Cut Studio Compression & Codecs? Advice greatly appreciated :0)
Hi Guys,
Please excuse me if I’ve missed someone asking this already. I’ve looked in different places and haven’t found an answer – but having said that I’m kind of overwhelmed by it all so may be missing something glaringly obvious.
I’m not new to filmmaking but I am new to Final Cut and recent technology.
I have been asked to make a project filming on AVCHD and to deliver it in as high picture quality as possible to be exported into DVDSP (PAL and possibly NTSC stand alone DVD players). I appreciate this might involve making 2 different DVDs.
I will be filming on a Canon HF S21.
Could someone please advise me which would be the best way to achieve optimum results – ie codecs and compression etc for FCP & DVDSP (the most recent versions)? I’ve always used iMovie and iDVD with mini DV on a Canon XM2 so it has always been quite an easy task. Also, should my source footage be shot in a particular ratio for best results please?
I am more of a ‘creative’ than a ‘techie’ but am trying to address this for obvious reasons. If anyone could please advise me of the best way to proceed I would be really grateful! Also, if anyone is able to recommend a book or a source that is a good ‘idiots guide’ I’d be grateful!
Many thanks,
Mark
