If you have text and graphics in your piece you can’t even export it once without significantly degrading them. The degradation is not as noticeable with moving video, but it’s there nonetheless.

DV is 5:1 compression, and it operates in 4:1:1 color space, so massive amounts of information are thrown away on every render and with every generation lost.

The secret is, when you’re done editing, go to Sequence>>Settings and change the compressor to DV50 or 8-bit uncompressed and then re-render. that will minimize your compression hit and preserve text and graphics.
