  Reading ProRes files on Windows 7

  I want to get some old home cine film professionally processed. The company I want to use, use MACs and ProRes and offer several different output formats – 422(Proxy and LT) 442 (norm and HQ) and 4444 (Alpha). When I get the files, I want to process them on my Windows 7 system. The company can’t tell me what the file extension will be. Any ideas? Will I be able to read any or all of the above types? What would be best?

  Hi Graeme,

  The files will have a .mov extension, they will be rendered with the ProRes codec so you’ll need to download the decoder to view them on a Windows machine.
