‘Easy Setup’ setup
Hey everyone,
I’m quite new this and I have what may seem an easy question to most.
Im shooting with an HVX-200 in DVCPRO HD 1080i/24P and was wondering what setting to use within FCP listed under ‘Easy Setup’?
Obviously, I choose Panasonic DVCPRO HD for the format, but under ‘Use’ I don’t see my available choice. The closest available is either DCVPRO HD – 1080i60 or 1080p30. I set it to 1080i60, but all my clips are coming up listing my fields as ‘None’ (under sequence settings), and it’s making all my videos crappy. So I have to go under each and every sequence and manually change my field to ‘upper’ to correct that. When dragging a clip from browser into my timeline, FCP always asks me to change my sequence settings to match clip settings for best performance.
I think that I have the wrong setting set under ‘Easy Setup’, but not too sure. I know this may seem like a very simple answer, but I am at a loss. Any suggestions out there?

Hi Chris,
1080i/24p it doesn’t exist.
1080pA24 yes.
That’s the capture setup you need.
In camera, the p24 stuff is recorded with added pulldown as i60.
When you capture with Firewire FC removes that pulldown.
You end up with 1080p24 in your HD.

I switched over to 1080pA24 and all is well, though I still have to go into each sequence setting and switch my fields over to either upper or lower (it’s set as none), to get rid of the blurred lines. So I’m assuming that there is another problem that I’m not quite figuring out yet….

Your footage now is Progressive and have to show in the Browser as NONE.
In a NONE sequence should work without problem.
Set the field dominance in the Browser before laying the clips in the sequence.

I must be doing something incredibly wrong. The field dominance is automatically set to None before bringing in the clip. Upon playing the clip it’s lines are drastically noticeable unless I switch over to either Upper or Lower. I’ll play with this a bit and see if I can’t figure out what it is I’m doing wrong. Thanks for your help…

The sequence is None before and after the clip is laid into it.

If the sequence is NONE, and the clips are NONE, before to be laid down in the sequence, should be OK.
Are you rendering and do you have the canvas set at 100% (no overlays)?
