  How to identify 8 or 10 bit QT clip ?

  Greetings, how can one confirm if a ProRes Quicktime clip is 10 bit or 8 bit? I’ve check QT properties, the FCP browser-columns, FCP clip properties, Compressor & Motion’s Inspector and Cinema Tools analysis – none of the diagnostic tools appear to display whether a clip is 8 or 10 bit.   ProRes is 10-bit.

  Thanks John, subsequent to my inquiry, I discovered this post (that you also contributed to) that supports the assumption that ProRes is always – always 10bit. This is good.

  That said (take ProRes out of the discussion), would anyone know of a detection/identify method of determining if a Quicktime clip is 8 or 10 bit. For example, uncompressed can be either 8 or 10bit.

  Unless you know the history, is there a way though Properties, Inspectors etc that will analyze and display if a clip is 8 or 10 bit.
