  • FCPro 5.0.4 crashes when going to capture HDV

I’m setting up a Director to capture and log a documentary shot HDV 1080i50 on her macbook pro before I do the edit.
She has Final Cut 5.0.4 on a G4 Mac with 1GHz memory and 1GB RAM. I have the same version of FCP on my G5 and have captured the HDV from her Canon camera with the help of Creative COW informative forums.

Having installed FCP 5.0.4 on her mac book pro, when I go to capture it crashes out of the programme immediately.

I tried copying HDV material over and the system plays it but comes up with an error suggesting I add more processing power to the system or try switching off ‘Unlimited RT’ etc.

Am I right in assuming that these two errors are caused by the same need for more RAM? I’ve checked and FCP does recommend 2GB RAM for HD material.

Wondering if anyone has had a similar crash on going to capture caused by lack of RAM?

    Thanks,

    Ben
