November 30, 2009 at 4:12 amduplicate the clip in a second layer exactly above the first
add a Blur filter to the upper layer
add a Matte > Mask Shape filter to the upper layer and adjust as desired
optionally, add a Matte > Soft Edges filter to the upper layer so as to feather the mask shape edges… or you could grab a copy of my free Region Blur plugin from https://web.me.com/andymees which pretty much does all the above but in a single filter form

Lucky me that I’ve read this post.
I have to do the same operation for the background of some subtitles, but I forgot that I have your Region Tint&Blur plugin. This will makes me save time, so I’ll be able to go to the Mekong and toast in your honor with a Beer Lao.
