Okay so I’m looking to create a music video in after effects for a friend, therefore it needs to be around 3-ish minutes.

I like how JCB Song was done (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3WhQB7Hq0Q) and I’m looking to create something similar. Not so much the look or style, but the way in which it works.

I’ve looked at panning and such, and already ‘rigged’ a butterfly following various tutorials.

I plan to have objects in the foreground and background scrolling past (set as 3d objects, to create depth), whilst the butterfly stays central but still moves around and isn’t simply flying in the middle of the screen. I’m just not sure how to basically scroll all of these objects and such, for 3 minutes. Do I create a super long scene, crop the composition and simply scroll it? Or is there an easier way?

I have ideas of how I could maybe pull it off but if anyone has any tips on how I can create such a thing then feel free to let me know!

    Thanks in advance,

    Liam.

I think the best way to go about it is create your background in Photoshop… and make it LONG. Then make your animation, which im guessing is the butterfly, and whatever other elements that will appear in the foreground. Then just have the background picture position scroll from left to right for your 3 minutes…

    And walla there you go.

This is a pretty basic explanation, let me know if you had any other questions and wanted to delve in deeper.

Thanks for the quick reply Topher, I’ll slap some doodles together in Photoshop and see how long I’d have to scroll it for.

If anyone has any other suggestions I’d be happy to hear them!

    Thanks!
