  Re-loading Footage

  Hi – I’m using FCP Pro 6 and need to reload all of my footage for sequences that are completely edited. I am using a relatively old Sony DV Recorder DSR-11 that doesn’t have a TC window display to load my mini DVs.

  When I originally loaded the footage I had the system set so that capture would stop when time code broke, so I numerous source files for each tape. My question is — how do I reload the tapes so that everything lines up? I’ve noticed that I can read the time code from the offline media prompt. Is there a way to use that while loading? I feel like I’ve tried everything field within the Log and Capture window – to no avail.

  Jill,

  That’s what reel numbers are for. When you captured your tapes did you number each tape and then enter that number in Log & Capture?

  Yes, I did. I know what tapes to load and where to reconnect them. However, because of the setting (new clip with timecode break), each tape resulted in 4 – 5 footage files.

  And, it seems unless I capture the exact same section of the tape this time as I did the first time, I get the prompt:

  “Some attributes of one or more of the files you have chosen do not match the attributes of the original. This may cause problems within the sequences that are dependent on them. The attributes that differed are as follows:

  – Media Start and End

  Make sense?

  I’ve had that message several times, in instances with perfect timecode tapes. If in doubt, save a backup copy of the project, and proceed. I’ve not once had the reloaded footage not line up in a noticable way….that is to say, when the footage reconnects, everything always seems to be where it should be.
