RGB or YUV?
Hello,
Can anyone tell me the best setting to use when working with a DV Pal anamorphic project in relation to the “Always Render in” settings? Should this be set to RGB or YUV (this is for a project that is being onlined and finished to Digibeta)?
Also, in Quicktime video settings, is it better to stick with DV-Pal as the compressor, or should this be changed to “Uncompressed”?

Hi Peta,
Your footage is YUV and your output format will be YUV too, so no point rendering RGB.

Thanks Rafael. And should that be 8-bit YUV or high precision YUV? This is for a broadcast delivery.
And would you keep the Quicktime Setting Compressor as DV-PAL or change it to uncompressed?

Hi Peta,
If you are applying filters and putting graphics i think would be worth to edit in a Proress (or 10b unc) sequence. When ready to render you can set “render all YUV in High Precision”.
You can use also the “Nattress Chroma Smooth/Sharpen” filter. This will improve the look of the DV footage. This filter will work if you set your sequence with a 422 codec (at least DV50). This filter its takes a while to be render but its worth the extra time.
If you are not applying filters neither graphics, you can edit DV and let the 10b conversion for the io video card or desk when you will print to video.
