  • Configuring for Video Capture from a DVD Deck

I’m currently using FCP6 and all its components on a dual processor MAC PRO desktop. My desktop has available firewire (400 and 800) and USB inputs. I have a Panasonic DVD deck with HDMI and RCA outputs.

I would like to capture footage from my DVD deck into my desktop using FCP. What would you suggest for configuring for best quality capture. I’m willing to purchase necessary cards/boards for my desktop, or external components if necessary. I’m a volunteer editor for my church with limited funds.

    Thank you in advance.

MPEG Streamclip can directly export a file in a QT format from most DVDs without a capture card. https://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html If for whatever reason you need to capture from the DVD player output, then checkout capture devices from AJA, Blackmagic and Matrox.

Thank you for your much needed assistance. This software is outstanding. It allows me to import footage give to me on a DVD from my church ministry, without any additional cost.

Thank you for your quick response and pointing me into the right direction.
