Exporting and reimporting/self contained movie
I’m fairly new to MAC and Final Cut Pro. Right now I’m using Final cut Pro Five and would describe myself as a complete novice.
Questions has to do with exporting and reimporting to make a self contained movie. I shot on a cannon gl1 mini DV and recorderd sound an external device, a fostex field recorder which records WAV files.
After syncing the sound and vido together why is it important to export that clip as a self contained quick time movie and reimport it? If I simply link the clips together on the timeline and drag it back to the browswer to make a sub clip what pain will this cause me later when I start using this merged subclips to edit in a new sequence? Seems very time consuming to have to export and reimport every single scene of the movie after syncing it, before I do this can someone tel me why it is important?
any advice would be helpful. I did an extensive search on the COW for the last few days and could not find a direct answer.

You don’t need to export and re-import anything. Just import your footage and convert your wav files to match your sequence settings. import them sync them up and your good to go.

Thats the strategy I was taking. Now then, if I do this and say make one sequence of raw footage, and then want to make another sequence of synced footage. If I use a subclip made of the synced up footage and moved it into another sequence is it going to affect the original clip if I make changes to the subclip? Or vice versa?
