    Hello,

I think i may be missing some basic concepts with this question but maybe some help steering me in the right direction could be provided…

So I have a DVD of some footage that I am ultimately trying to print a high resolution (300 dpi) still frame from. I have ripped the footage from DVD and converted it losslessly to mpeg2 using mac the ripper (the original footage was shot by me and i do not have the original media files). When I play the clip in quicktime the size is 640 x 480 pixels and when I import into final cut and then export as a still image, my dpi is always 72. I think the answer may be in front of me, but am I stuck w/ this image size and resolution? Why is the DVD size so large if the image resolution is so low througout?

Thanks for any and all help,
    dan

There was a question just like this asked just yesterday on the FCP Forum. To save from unneeded repetitive questions, and to help you get your answer faster I recommend doing a search before just asking your question.

Here is the link to the question and answers from just the other day.

There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.
Don’t let technology get in the way of your creativity!
