Beta to FCP
how do I capture Beta SP tape to FCP while I dont have a capture card?
I do have a DSR deck, and a Beta Deck
do I have to dub the Beta into DV then capture the DV?! -

Hi Tel,
I don’t know which VTRs you have but you need to connect the Video Out of the Betacam to the video In of the DSR and capture through FW. Set in FC: No controllable device.
Then you need “Capture Now”. -

Set up FCP in a DV Capture Preset
Set Log and Capture to Non-Controllable Device
You can now capture the Beta SP to DV. You will lose video quality and you will not be able to retain Timecode using this method.

yeah i know about the TC
that’s what I did before posting the question, I ran the beta through the DRS then DSR to FCP through fire wire but couldnt get a pictrue!! will play with that a bit see what the problem isthans guys

The DSR has to be set to EE mode for the video to pass through. This might require hitting the REC button on the front of the machine.
Look in the Menu settings on that deck to find the EE Mode when the machine is in still mode.

Ahhhhhhhh!!! DSR11!! no remote control! cant get to menu!

In the DSR-11, set the Video Imput as needed and try what Walter says.
Hit just the REC button.
Play something in the BetaCam and open the capture window in FC.
you may be lucky.
