  workflow PS> FCP > Motion

  Hi,

  What would be the best way to solve the following problem:
  I have a .psd file that I use in Final Cut Pro (as a sequence). I want to animate in in Motion and send it back to FCP. That works fine. But when I want to edit the original psd then I can’t save it because the same file is already in use in FCP. It works if I quit FCP, then save the file, and then start FCP but I am hoping there is another, real-time, way. Can anyone help please?

  Leon,

  Just make a duplicate of your PSD file. Send one to Motion and keep the other for FCP alterations in real time. Only difference will be .PSD and .PSD copy (or whatever you name it). If you lay the original PSD file on one video bed, and the motion altered PSD on another, you can easily mute one of the tracks so that they don’t interfere with one another — or use them both and drop the opacities down on the one you don’t want to show at the time.

  Hope this is what your were getting at, but I suggest working with a motion copy and your original PSD unaltered. Makes it easy to track the changes as well.
