  does Compressor average levels?

  I have a video that has a music playing in the background as images go by. When I have an interview, I have the music fade down, (but not out)to become a music bed before the subject begins to talk.

  In Final Cut the audio levels are fine. After I convert the movie to either an mpeg1 or an h.264, the music doesn’t fade, keeps playing at its full volume over the interview by about a second and then it just drops to the lower level of the music bed.

  I looked for a control that tells Compressor to average sound and can’t find it.

  any help is appreciated.

  Try an audio mix down before re-encoding the file.

  Make sure the level changes are in the audio mix down.
